While God is walking by

The daffodils all nod their heads,

the willow trees bend low;

A shiny beetle bows his head

while running to and fro.

The rocks are glistening in the dew,

a lark soars to the sky.

And all life wears a smiling face

while God is walking by.

Listen very carefully

and you can her Him say,

“Oh, my child, I love you so!

Come, walk with me today!”

A million twinkling stars shine bright

against the velvet night.

the hoot owl cries his eerie cry

and drifts on out of sight.

The drowsy cow calls to the calf

who nestles by her side;

red fox pauses in his flight;

Shhh, God is walking by.

“Mama, Mama, hold me close

and look up in the sky.

See the lightning flashing there,

Is that God walking by?”

Baby brother hurt his knee,

Mama’s feeling blue.

No one wants to sing today,

but God still walks here, too.

God doesn’t need a rainbow

nor a sparkling starry sky,

to show us that He always cares

and that He’s walking by.

And daddy, when he takes God’s book

and holds it in his hand,

to tell us of our Father, God,

who walks upon the land;

Is one more proof that God does care

for His children, you and I;

and that He sees and hears and cares

as He comes walking by.
