Hurry, hurry, jump and pounce!

Swing and climb and laugh and bounce!

Playground run time; recess sun time;

Outside sunshine, lots of fun time!

In the schoolroom teacher smiles;

tells us all to rest a while.

“Come and listen while I tell

a story about a carousel!”

We sit and listen while she spins

a magic tale of ponies and kids.

We see the ponies in our minds

with riders just like us and find

a world that’s just as real it seems

as the one outside or in our dreams.

Rest time over, we play some more;

this time with numbers like 4 + 4.

Our teacher makes the learning fun

and soon the time for work is done.

Then, hurry, hurry, jump and pounce.

Swing and climb and laugh and bounce!

Childhood fun time, summer sun time,

Boys and girls and best friends playtime.
