THESE THINGS I GIVE YOU

I give to you the child in me,

loved and formed at Mother’s knee.

A child who knew all hurts could heal

as long as she was near and real.

I give to you the boy in me,

awkward and shy and young and free.

The boy who learned at his father’s side,

how to love the land and the open sky.

I give to you the youth in me;

whose restless heart so longed to see

the day when waiting would be done,

and the stature of manhood was clearly won.

All these are here in me today

and shape the words you hear me say.

I give them freely now my love

as steadfast as the stars above.

God has worked His will in this

knowing that we both are His.

Each was formed with certainty

and lovingly paired for eternity.
