GOD BLESSED AMERICA TODAY

God blessedAmericatoday.

The sun came up and night was gone.

A newborn baby took its first breath of free air.

God blessed America today.

The trees put on leaves to cover the bare bones of winter.

A calf followed its mother down a well-worn path to water.

A robin built a nest in the cherry tree.

God blessed America today.

The night shift goes off duty as the day shift comes in

And another day begins at the steel mill.

An aide comforts one of her aged friends in the nursing home.

A teacher calls her class to order

while a student opens a book and dreams of summer.

God blessed America today.

He sent rain on the rich man’s crops and rain on the poor man’s crops.

Then He swept His hand across the eastern sky and set a rainbow there

so we would remember His promises.

He caused a heart to melt with understanding

and a patriot was born.

He gave words to a poet and broke America’s heart.

God blessed America today as He does every day.

Did you feel it?
