1. The beginning of life is tender green.

Like the leaves in spring on a willow tree.

A baby’s laugh is a lovely thing.

Lord, fill my life with tender green!

2. Love’s first kiss, its first caress

is a fragile thing full of tenderness.

It remains forever in memory’s gaze;

the tender green of life’s young days.

Oh, when the winters of my life appear

and my soul is bowed in tears.

Then let me remember the tender years

when life was colored tender green.

3. When you see the tender green

you know the flowers will bloom that spring.

Then summer showers will do their thing,

such is the promise of tender green.
