The Colors of Christmas

The colors of Christmas are shining today;
preparing our hearts for winter’s display.
Shining not only from homes filled with cheer,
but also from hearts, familiar and dear.

Apples and candles and roses of red;
red fuzzy jammies all snuggly for bed.
A green Christmas tree and gay Christmas wreath;
holly and mistletoe make up the scene.

Sparkling ornaments cover the tree;
and Gold is for gifts from the Wisemen, three.
Baby’s blue eyes shine with delight
as Mama sings softly, “O Holy Night”.

White is for snow and heavenly light
from a star shining brightly on a long-ago night.
Robes of purple were worn by the three
who knelt down to worship Jesus, the King.

We don’t care for brown on our holiday list,
but remember the shepherds were somberly dressed.
Bright stockings are stuffed with candy and toys;
and big juicy oranges for good girls and boys.

Yes, the colors of Christmas bring memories dear
and gladden our hearts year after year.
So ring the bells loudly and cover the earth
with colors and carols to welcome Christ’s birth!
