Numbers and letters and colors, ho hum!
I’m ready for summer and school to be done!
I’ve played in the snow and slid down the hill;
of cocoa and dumplings I’ve sure had my fill!
My wooly red sweater and blue-tasseled hat
are fine when the snow flies but other than that,
they can stay in the closet when summer is here
and drip on my boots for the rest of the year!
I’m ready for picnics and fun in the park.
and chasing down fireflies soon as it’s dark.
Swimming and biking and batting a ball,
ice cream, hot dogs, candy and all!
Tee shirts and blue jeans and sneakers, hooray!
Popguns and Frisbees and playing all day!
Sunshine and flowers and butterflies, too;
Rain puddles, mud pies, sloppy ol’ goo!
Goodbye, yellow school bus, hello red wagon;
hey, Freddy come quick, I just saw a dragon!
Anything can be done on this magical day
When the school year is over and children can play!
One of my memories:
No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher’s
dirty looks!
Donna: See you soon….and Happy umteenth Wedding Anniversary to you and John!
